Supply two to four players with an opaque dice cup, 10 poker chips or other betting counters and five dice.

Have each player roll one die. The highest roller will go first; play will proceed to the left.

Begin the round with the first player, the caller, shaking five dice in the cup and turning the cup upside down on the table.

Peek at your dice if you are the caller, keeping the results hidden from the other players. Decide whether you want to stand pat or draw. If you choose to draw, you may re-roll any number of dice. You may re-roll twice in one turn.

Announce your “hand.” You must be specific. That is, you can’t say, “I have three of a kind.” Rather you should say, “I have three fours.”

6Move to the next player, who may challenge the caller’s statement or roll his dice and make a call on his own hand. To make a call, the hand must be higher than the original caller’s hand. The person to this new caller’s left may now challenge, or roll and make his own call.

7 Win the game when you are the only one remaining who has a counter.

In short only declare what you have and try to work out whether the other players are bluffing-

Basically there are many variations of poker but i assume it will be texas holdem’ ur referring to

in texas holdem every player is dealt 2 cards face down, know as hole cards. Only you know what these cards are. A big blind and a small blind must be posted directly left of “the dealer button” (the dealer button gets moved after each hand to the next player on the left) there is a round of betting with 4 options fold, call raise or check(if your are in the big blind and it has not been raised)
next is the “flop” this is 3 community cards that everyone can use to make their hand. Again there is a round of betting with the same options bet, raise, call or fold.
Next comes the “turn” this is 1 extra community card. Again there is another round of betting.
The last card is known as the river this is also face up (now 5 face up cards know as the board) this is now the final round of betting. Once all bets are matched to win the hand you must show the strongest hand. You can use 0,1 or both of your hole cards to make the best possible hand of 5 cards

the weakest is high card…..this basically means u don’t have any pair
next is one pair (2cards of the same value i.e 9,9 3,2,6)
next is 2 pr… 10, 10, jack,jack,4
next is 3 of a kind……ie 4,4,4, king, queen
next is a straight………3,4,5,6,7 of any suits
next is a flush…….any 5 cards of the same suit…ie 2,5,7,10,ace but all hearts or all spades, clubs or diamonds
next is a full house…. This is 3 of a kind with a pair….ie 99966
next if four of a kind… 8,8,8,8,Ace
next is a straight flush…….5consecutivee cards all of the same suit…..i.e. 7,8,9,10,jack all hearts
next is the royal flush…..this is the best possible hand in poker 10,jack,queen,king,ace all of the same suit

if u get 2 bad cards before any betting u should fold, if you get 2 good cards u should raise,

good starting hands AA KK QQ JJ etc any pair is a good starting hand
also AK,AQ,AJ,A10 KQ,KJ,QJ these are also pretty good starting hands
other playable hands are suited connectors ie 78 both clubs 10,jack of hearts etc etc

pretty much most other hands should be folded, until you know how to play
if your hand does not match the flop it is a good idea to fold, but for example you had 4 hearts 4 of clubs and the flop was ace, 4, 9. This would be a very strong hand.

To explain everypossibilityy in poker would take an eternity, but it is a game u can pick uprelativelyy quickly. I will leave a link where there is an online poker site where u can play for free, and have a practice on the play money tables.

Hope this helped

how do you play poker in Red Dead Redemption?

i really need to know, for the Ricketts mission, and the high stakes trophy or whatever

admin answers:

First of all i will write down all the winning hands here varying from strong winning hands to weaker winning hands.
Royal Flush:
Five card sequence from 10 to the Ace in the same suit (10,J,Q,K,A).

Straight Flush:
Any five card sequence in the same suit. (eg. 8,9,10,J,Q and A, 2,3,4,5 of same suit). All the cards are of the same suit, and all are consecutive. Ranking between straights is determined by the value of the high end of the straight.

Four of a Kind: All four cards of the same index (eg. J,J,J,J).

Full House:
Three of a kind combined with a pair (eg. A,A,A,5,5). Ties on a full house are broken by the three of a kind, as you cannot have two equal sets of three of a kind in any single deck.

Any five cards of the same suit, but not in sequence. Don’t be tricked into thinking that all five cards are the same color. The high card determines the winner if two or more people have a flush.

Five cards in sequence, but not in the same suit. A straight cannot wrap, meaning it is not a straight if you have a Queen, King, Ace, Two, Three. The higher straight wins if two or more people have a straight. In case of straights that tie, the pot is split.

Three of a Kind:
Three cards of the same value. The highest set of three cards wins.

Two Pair:
Two seperate pairs (eg. 4,4,Q,Q). As usual the pair with the higher value is used to determine the winner of a tie.

One pair of two equal value cards constitutes a pair.

High Card:
If no one has any of the above winning hands, the tie is determined by the highest value card in the hand. If the highest cards are a tie then the tie is broken by the second highest card. Suits are not used to break ties.

In Texas holdem poker, you have 2 private cards and 5 public cards ,

first the dealer or button gives you your 2 cards , then the FLOP comes(3 first public cards), after that the TURN (4th public card) , after that the RIVER(5th public card).

You will have to make winning combinations using your cards along with the public cards. The one with the best combination, wins the pot.

Some advice of me , only play the round when you got a strong starting hand. All the other times simply fold(trow in cards and wait for next round).By a strong starting hand i mean a combination of 21 or above.A,K,Q,J,10,9 —> An ace and a 9 –> 14 + 9 = 24–> good starting hand.

Red Dead Redemption Poker Help!?

Right now, I am working on getting the U.S. Army Outfit, and to do so, I have to win in Poker in Blackwater. There is just one little thing…I don’t know how to play Poker!!! I have the coat when you can cheat in Poker, but whats the point if I don’t know how to play and I always get caught. So can someone please, please help me and tell me how to play Poker. A link to a video or a straight answer! PLEASE HELP!

admin answers:

I have just busted all 4 players at the high stakes(250$) poker game without cheating in a 3 hour game so i think i could help you out.At the 100 table if you are unfamiliar with poker rules , wait until there is only 1 person at the table. 1 vs 1 poker goes faster.

The 5 cards in the center of the table are the public cards , the 2 cards you hold are your private cards.
You need to make combinations , if you got a jack, and theres a jack in the public cards , then you can form a pair as a winning hand, if you got a jack and a 10, and theres a 10 and a jack in the public. Then you got 2 pair wich is a higher hand. Here i will give you all the winning hands from the top hand to the less wanted lower hands.

*A royal flush = 10 , JACK, QUEEN , KING, ACE
*A straight flush is a hand that contains five cards in sequence, all of the same suit, such as Q♣ J♣ 10♣ 9♣ 8♣.
*Four of a kind, also known as quads, is a poker hand such as 9♣ 9♠ 9♦ 9♥ J♥,
*A full house, also known as a full boat, is a hand such as 3♣ 3♠ 3♦ 6♣ 6♥,which contains three matching cards of one rank, and two matching cards of another rank.
*A flush is a poker hand such as Q♣ 10♣ 7♣ 6♣ 4♣, where all five cards are of the same suit. If the hand also has all the cards in sequential order, it would be a straight flush.
*A straight is a poker hand such as Q♣ J♠ 10♠ 9♥ 8♥, which contains five cards of sequential rank.
*Three of a kind, also called trips or a set, is a poker hand such as 2♦ 2♠ 2♣ K♠ 6♥, which contains three cards of the same rank
*A poker hand such as J♥ J♣ 4♣ 4♠ 9♥, which contains two cards of the same rank
*One pair is a poker hand such as 4♥ 4♠ K♠ 10♦ 5♠, which contains two cards of the same rank, plus three other unmatched cards.
*A high-card or no-pair hand is a poker hand such as K♥ J♣ 8♣ 7♦ 3♠, in which no two cards have the same rank, the five cards are not in sequence, and the five cards are not all the same suit.

Check = show 1 public card
Bet = bet
raise = raise the bet and put pressure on the other players to raise to , do this to suck out their coins , and if you are sure of a winning hand follow up with an ALL IN
fold = you stop and lose whatever you have already bet

Remember to fold in time, when you have a good hand build up the coins and dont scare off the other players by betting and raising insanely high right away.

Another tip , when you play you can easily calculate the risk versus the bet/pot , and you could calculate the chance of getting a winning hand .For example if you want a flush. In total there are 13 spades in the got 2 spades in hand, and there are 2 on the public board.SO there are 9 left.Youve already seen 5 cards, yours and the one on the public board. So this means there are 47 cards left that you havent seen. From those 47 cards, 9 cards(spades) will make your flush. The odds you make a flush are 38: 9 = 4 against 1.You got a 25% chance to make a flush.

Heres a table if you want to play alot and be good , memorize it.Those are the odds of all the OUTS(= the cards the are still unknown and left in the game)

Aantal outs

Break-even pot odds
145 to 1
222 to 1
314.3 to 1
410.5 to 1
58.2 to 1
66.7 to 1
75.6 to 1
84.75 to 1
94.1 to 1
103.6 to 1
113.2 to 1
122.8 to 1
132.5 to 1
142.2 to 1
152.1 to 1
161.9 to 1
171.7 to 1
181.6 to 1

ANother example, if you got a 10 , and you want to make a PAIR of 10s , then you know there are 3 10s left in the game, Look at the table above, the chance is 14 to 1 that you will get a 10.

If in the public cards, you see a 3 a 4 a 5 a 6 , then the other players either need a 2 or a 7 to make a straight. If you dont own neither a 2 or a 7 then this means there are four 2s left in the game, and four 7s , A 10:1 chance they pop up.If you face 5 players , a big risk, if you face 1 player, the risk is 5 times less .If your bet is 100 , and the pot is 800, a 8:1 BET , worth the risk.
